Consumer Rights

Consumer Rights 

The rights which are given by the government to their citizens as consumer are consumer rights. Different country may have different consumer rights. The basic consumer rights in india which is must know to the aware citizens are as follow -:

          1)  Right to Safety
          2)  Right to Consumer Education
          3)  Right to seek Redressal
          4)  Right to Representation or Right to Heard
          5) Right to Choice
          6)  Right to Information

1) Right to Safety -: 

  This right tells us that " The every consumer have the right to protected from the Marketing of some goods which are hazardous to life due its manufacturing deffects". Ex. Deffects in electrical appliances, Pressure cooker, Vehicles etc.

2) Right to Consumer Education -:

This right tells us that " Once the people are aware about their rights then they can confidently against what unfair happens with them which are done by the traders.

3) Right to Seek Redressal-:

This right tells us that " The consumers have right to take Compensation against any cheat or unfair trade done by the traders". Compensation may be money, replacement of goods as per satisfaction of consumer. 

4) Right to Representation or Right to Heard-:

This right tells us that "  The consumer has right to be heard when they have complaint against the product or service". According to this right every company must have their customer care service to fix the problem of consumer.

5) Right to Choice-:

According to this right " The consumer is free to choose the products". The traders can't force to buy products of particular brands.

6) Right to Information-:

According to this right "The consumer has right to get information about the Quality, Quantity, Price of goods to protect from unfair practice".

Recently a event is happen in Goa. A second year law student is pay the bill in restaurant through debit card by swiping machine. The bill has additional 2% of total amount. The manager take 2% as tax of swiping. The customer refuse to give 2% additional amount because he well know that it is illegal to take 2% tax from customer. An after that he filled a case against the Restaurant. Then after he win the case and restaurant punished by to giving compensation of 15000 to that student. This is the Example of Right to consumer education.
